Here’s how e-learning helps engineering students
E-learning makes the content available for students digitally. Users can learn online, anywhere and anytime. Instead of physical copies of books, e-learning uses visual content and gamification.
During engineering, most of the students face the problem of not getting their questions answered in class or having no idea about the topic being taught or wishing to explore new opportunities. E-learning can make the difference.
The author starts with the story of Priya Raghav, a Computer Science graduate.
In her own words, here's how she changed the course for her life through E-learning:
Being a computer science student with absolutely no coding background meant that I needed to put in double the efforts. However, even after the efforts, I failed thrice and got backlogs in various subjects because of which I couldn't sit for the on-campus placement.
During that time, I tried applying for internships but only faced rejection. It left me disappointed, and I stopped applying further.
It was then one of my college seniors recommended that I do an online training to help understand the topics and better my chances of securing an internship. I did some research and enrolled for an Android Development training.
The flexibility offered by an online training was an advantage. I could manage my college work while studying as per my convenience and make my own schedule.
Moreover, the free Placement Preparation Training gave many handy interview tips and taught me the intricacies of writing impressive cover letters. I started devoting a lot of hours to the training regularly.
It started helping me in understanding the basics and gave me an in-depth knowledge of the subject which in turn helped me ace my exams in the next semester and clear all my backlogs.
After the successful completion of my training, I reworded my resume and began applying to internships once again; this time I got selected for 4 out of the 5 internships I had applied to.
My dashboard that earlier showed 'Rejected' now showed 'Shortlisted' and I had the option to choose. I started working with a startup as an Intern and based on my performance, I was offered a full-time job, which I took. I am currently a senior Android Developer at the same company.
Like Priya, every year, 15 lakh engineering students graduate and most of them have a similar story. They find it difficult to find a direction in their academic career.
The reason could be a backlog, not having sufficient knowledge about the subject, not receiving a proper guidance from the faculty, and so on. What if we were to tell you that there is a plausible solution to the problem? -- E-learning.
